Expert Webinar led by Mathew Tobin

Tuesday 24 November 6-7pm

This webinar will be recorded. If you are unable to attend on the scheduled date and time, all ticket holders will receive access to the recording.

This session celebrates how picturebooks can bring stories alive for young children - even before they can read the words. Together, we’ll explore how children read with their eyes first - how covers, endpapers, and illustrations help them make sense of the story. We’ll slow down and take a closer look at how to read pictures together - noticing, wondering, and talking about what we see.

Whether you’re reading in a library, a nursery, or on a carpet at storytime, we’ll share ideas to help every child feel included, curious, and confident as a reader.

Learning Objectives

  • Learn how to share picturebooks in ways that invite children to notice, wonder, and join in.
  • Discover simple ways to spark conversation using covers, illustrations, and endpapers.
  • Gain practical, low-pressure techniques to build children’s confidence, curiosity, and early comprehension through storytime.

Audience

This webinar is designed for professionals working with young children - including childminders and staff in nurseries, libraries, schools and ELC settings - as well as parents and carers.
