Thank you for your interest in our new book subscription service! We want you to love your book subscription as much as we enjoy putting it together for you. Please get in touch with sales@scottishbooktrust.com if you can’t see an answer to your question below.

General

How does the subscription work?

You choose a theme you’re interested in and buy either a 3-month or 6-month subscription. Our curators have chosen books they love and want to share, and you receive one mystery book per month, along with exclusive postcards and recommendations. You pay for the subscription as a single purchase. We send out book boxes in the first week of the month, once a month, and if your box hasn’t arrived by the 15th, get in touch.

When do I get my first book?

It depends when you order your subscription. All orders received by the last day of the month will be sent out in the first week of the month, and should be with you by the fifteenth. 

How do I update my address or email?

Please email sales@scottishbooktrust.com. To change the address that your next box will be sent to, we need to know before the last day of the calendar month.

Can I order a book subscription and other products at the same time? Will they ship at the same time?

You can order different products at the same time. Depending on the time in the month when you order, we may send your goods together.

What if I already have the book?

Who are the books suitable for?

Over time, we aim to offer a range of themes so that there’s a subscription for everyone. However, please read the product listing for the subscription before you sign up.

Some of our subscriptions are for adult readers and the books contain adult themes and content that is not suitable for under 18s.

Gifts and gifting

How do I buy a subscription as a gift?

Thank you for choosing our subscription as a gift! You can buy a gift subscription in our online shop. The gift subscription is issued as a gift card, please view our gift card terms and conditions.
You can choose whether we send an email about the subscription directly to your recipient, or to receive an email to your own account that you can forward at the right time. 

How do I redeem my gift subscription?

Welcome! We hope you enjoy your gift. You can redeem a gift subscription within 12 months of the original purchase date, and the expiry date is included in the gift email.

It’s easy to redeem a gift subscription. Please choose a subscription from our selection that interests you and add it to your cart. Please enter your voucher code and check out. We’ll add your first subscription box to our next delivery day. (For more info, see: When do I get my first book?)

Will my gift recipient have to pay shipping?

All book subscriptions include shipping costs in the price.

I’m ordering a Christmas gift, can I buy now and start the deliveries later?

For adults, we recommend that you buy a gift subscription voucher. Then your recipient can choose when the deliveries start and communicate with us directly.

I have a gift subscription, but I don’t want any of the current themes.

We’re sorry to hear that. We intend to release new themes throughout the year. You can activate your gift subscription anytime within 12 months of the original purchase date, so join our newsletter to hear first about new themes that we hope will spark your interest.

Can I add a donation to my subscription order or gift subscription?

Yes you can, thank you!

Scottish Book Trust delivers programmes and outreach work designed to support a love of reading in children, families and adults through all life stages. Your donations will help deliver more life-changing work.

Your purchase will contribute to our charity, and we are grateful for any additional donation you’d like to make towards our work. You will be asked if you’d like to add a donation as you check out.

Where do you ship to?

We can ship anywhere in the UK. Please note some deliveries to the Highlands and islands within Scotland may take a day or two longer.
