We have two types of book subscription
Fixed subscription length and a Monthly pay as you go subscription

Fixed Subscription Length (3 month and 6 month)
How does the subscription work?
You choose a theme you’re interested in and buy either a 3-month or 6-month subscription.
Our curators have chosen books they love and want to share, and you receive one mystery book per month, along with exclusive postcards and recommendations. You pay for the subscription as a single purchase.
We send out book boxes in the first week of the month, once a month, and if your box hasn’t arrived by the 15th, get in touch.
When do I get my first book?
It depends when you order your subscription. All orders received by the last day of the month will be sent out in the first week of the month, and should be with you by the fifteenth.
How do I update my address or email?
Please email sales@scottishbooktrust.com. To change the address that your next box will be sent to, we need to know before the last day of the calendar month.
Can I order a book subscription and other products at the same time? Will they ship at the same time?
You can order different products at the same time. Depending on the time in the month when you order, we may send your goods together.
What if I already have the book?

Who are the books suitable for?
We have book subscriptions available for children, young adults and adults. We aim to offer a range of themes so that there’s a subscription for everyone. However, please read the product listing for the subscription before you sign up.
Some of our subscriptions are for adult readers and the books contain adult themes and content that is not suitable for under 18s.

Monthly pay as you go subscription
How does the subscription work?
Sign up and pay for your first month.
Your first book will be delivered by the 15th of the following month.
After that, your card will be charged on the 1st of each month. We’ll email you a reminder before each payment.

When do I get my first book?
It depends when you order your subscription. All orders received by the last day of the month will be sent out in the first week of the month, and should be with you by the fifteenth.
How do I update my card details, address or email?
Login to your online shop account.
To change your email go to Profile and select Edit.
To change the address and card details for your subscription, go to Manage Subscription. Select your monthly subscription and choose Edit.

Can I order a book subscription and other products at the same time? Will they ship at the same time?
You can order different products at the same time. Depending on the time in the month when you order, we may send your goods together.
What if I already have the book?
Every subscriber has the opportunity to skip an upcoming book before payment is taken on the 1st of each month. We send an email reminder each month 7 days before your card is charged. Get in touch with sales@scottishbooktrust.com if you have any questions.

How do I cancel, skip or pause?
You can cancel anytime and you can skip up until payment is taken on the 1st.
Login to your online shop account.
Click Manage Subscription.
Open your monthly book subscription, click skip or cancel.
When will my card be charged?
On the first of each month. If the first is not a working day, your card will be charged on the next working day.
When will I receive my book?
By the 15th of the month, each month.
Gifts and Gifting
How do I buy a subscription as a gift?
You can buy a gift subscription in our online shop. The gift subscription is issued as a gift card, please view our gift card FAQs and terms and conditions.
How do I redeem my gift subscription?
At checkout, on the right-hand side of the page, enter your 16-digit gift card code into the “Discount code or gift card” box and select Apply.
The value of the gift card will then be applied to your order, and the remaining balance on your gift card will be updated automatically.
Why am I being asked to enter my credit card details when my balance is £0?
This can happen when you have purchased one of our book subscription products using a gift card.
Our online shop system requires card details to be entered to process book
subscription orders, even when the remaining balance is £0. Unfortunately, this
is a limitation of the software we use to manage our subscription service.
No payment will be taken when your balance is £0. Any card details entered are
encrypted and stored securely by our payment provider.
Will my gift recipient have to pay shipping?
No, all book subscriptions include shipping costs in the price.
I’m ordering a Christmas gift, can I buy now and start the deliveries later?
No, we recommend that you buy a gift subscription voucher. Then your recipient can choose when the deliveries start and communicate with us directly.
General
Where do you ship to?
We can ship anywhere in the UK.
Please note some deliveries to the Highlands and islands within Scotland may
take a day or two longer.
