Hope book
Hope book
When do you think of hope, where does it take you?
Hope is the promise of a brighter future. It's not blind faith that things will work out in the end, it's the trust we place in ourselves and those around us, that the choices we make in difficult moments will lead to better times. That the path we are on, and our story, matter.
This collection has been written by people across Scotland reflecting on the theme of Hope, as part of Scottish Book Trust's annual writing opportunity, Scotland's Stories.
This book is a present to you from Scottish Book Trust, printed in celebration of Book Week Scotland 2024.
If you enjoy it, please consider making a donation so that everyone in Scotland has the opportunity to improve their life chances through books and the fundamental skills of reading and writing.
We also have Book Week Scotland pin badges and tote bags available.
There is a limit of 20 books in one transaction.
What is the creative readers' journal?
Reading has a variety of positive impacts on readers, including improvements in wellbeing, reductions in feelings of loneliness and the development of empathy. However, research shows that reflecting on what we read can further increase the impact of these benefits.
For the first time, this year we are offering readers of Scotland's Stories the opportunity to receive a creative readers' journal.
The journal contains five creative activities that will support you to reflect on your experience of reading Hope. There are instructions for each of the five, but do feel free to adapt the activities to allow you to reflect on the aspects of reading the stories that stood out to you.
We hope that using the journal will support you to further unlock all the wellbeing benefits that reading offers.
To help us understand the different ways that readers engage with stories, the impact that both reading and reflecting on reading has on us, and to hear your feedback on this year's Scotland's Stories we will ask you to send photos of your completed journal for us to analyse as part of our research. Details of how to send us your photos will be included in the journal.
There is a limit to 5 creative readers' journals per order.
